What is a Virtual School?
ConnectEd’s virtual school is a web-based e-learning system designed and developed for delivering education to the students home. This system is made up of several parts:

A secure web-portal that allows students to log in to collect and send assignments, take part in forums, read news items, make use of their own planner and feel part of a community.

The ConnectEd Virtual Classroom
The ConnectEd Virtual Classroom provides live teacher-led lessons timetabled into the student’s week. Our interactive classroom allows the students and teachers to communicate with each other in a safe and secure learning environment.  The system is very flexible allowing students to log on from their own home, a PRU, hospital or anywhere that has internet access. Lessons are recorded and made available to students in order to reinforce learning.

Self-Paced Assignments
As well as taking part in the virtual classroom, students have access to The ConnectEd Learning Portal. From here they can collect, complete and submit assignments developed for their needs.

What do the students need?
Students attending ConnectEd’s virtual school simply need a standard computer with any kind of internet access. ConnectEd is able to provide its students with laptops and connections if required. A student’s lack of equipment will not be allowed to stand in the way of them accessing learning!

ConnectEd courses are designed for any student at Key Stages 3 and 4 who cannot attend mainstream school, whatever the reason.  The programme gives our students the opportunity to achieve GCSEs and paves the way, for some, to return to mainstream education. For those unable to take GCSE course we provide the ConnectEd ‘Skills For Life Course’, which covers literacy, numeracy and soon to be added ICT basic skills. Students can achieve Level 1 and 2 certification via OCR for these courses
